Sue Mengers, one of Hollywood’s most influential and colorful agents, died October 15 at her home in Beverly Hills after a series of small strokes. Though her age has been reported as 78, some claim that Mengers was actually 81.

The child of Holocaust survivors, Mengers immigrated to the US from Hamburg, Germany with her parents. In 1955 she landed a job at the MCA talent agency and later at William Morris.

At her peak in the 70s she represented such stars as Barbra Streisand, Bob Fosse, Michael Caine, Peter Bogdanovich, Ryan O’Neal and Faye Dunaway. Mengers blazed a trail for women agents in Hollywood.
