I am issuing A Call to Make Your Arms Applause. Men Do Your Part and buy tickets to “Into the Breeches!” I Want You to Heed The Call and Let ‘Em Have It… your applause that is. Then tell your friends. Loose Lips Sell Tickets. You Can Do It!
Ok maybe I’m taking the World War II slogan commandeering a bit too far but I literally can’t urge you enough to go see this show. Especially men, cis-gender men.
Listen guys, we have a lot to learn from our better halves and this play is a masters-level course in understanding. We didn’t do it alone. Behind every great man is an even better woman and this play does more to embody the spirit of “A band of brothers” than any male-dominated performance I have ever seen.
I have seen a ton of theatre in Los Angeles and I am being completely honest when I say that this show is one of my favorites of all time! I am often accused of being too kind to local theatre productions but in this instance, I seriously cannot be kind enough.
“Into the Breeches” is everything we need right now. It saddens me that a play set during WWII can be so relevant today but man am I relieved that there is theatre out here that can make sense of this crazy world. Care and compassion abound in this touching and inspiring production. Mix in tons of laughs and tons of risks and you have a recipe fit for a very special evening. If like me, you yearn for a better tomorrow your heart will be satiated by this show.
The ensemble is phenomenal. MEGHAN ANDREWS, EMILIE DOERING, BROOKE OLIVIA GATTO, NICHOLAS HORMANN, LEE JAMES, HOLLY JEANNE, SYDNEY A. MASON, LESLIE STEVENS, and Director BRIAN SHNIPPER are all aces!
I simply cannot pinpoint a single moment I love more than others as they all seem to compound upon each other into a snowball effect that ends with a roaring standing ovation. It would be a disservice to you if I were to reveal plot points by discussing scenes anyway. Just come with an open heart and each lovely moment will delight you. There are so many.
I am sure you too will salute playwright GEORGE BRANT and his wife LAURA KEPLEY for they cultivated a comedy for the ages that is sure to galvanize a generation of people in a way that only a muse of fire could.
